The Gillette Police Department is notifying local businesses of a potential scam in which an adult male with a middle eastern accent is contacting local businesses that sell pre-paid credit cards and demanding that the clerk deposit money onto pre-paid cards.  The caller is threatening that if the clerk doesn't comply, it will result in violence at the business.

Excessive speed is being investigated as the contributing factor in a single vehicle rollover near Newcastle on July 23rd. The crash occurred at mile post 245 on US 85 approximately 15 miles east of Newcastle at 6:00 pm.

At 9:14 PM on July 26th, the Campbell County Fire Deparment responded to mile marker 28 on HWY 50 for the report of a grass fire. The fire was caused by a hawk that had landed on the power line at a switch, was electrocuted and burned. When the hawk fell to the ground it started a grass fire. The fire burned approximately 2.5 acres.
